What Makes St. Paul Different?
- St. Paul administers the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills in grades Kindergarten-8th.
- The 2018-2019 school year will be our 21st year in operation.
- St. Paul is nationally accredited through National Lutheran School Accreditation, which is recognized by regional school accreditation agencies – SACS and North Central Accreditation.
- St. Paul is also accredited by Georgia Accrediting Commissions, Inc.
- Our Preschool is licensed by “Bright from the Start” through the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning.
- Approximately 25% of our enrollment is Lutheran; 25% is Catholic; 50% is from other denominations.
- St. Paul graduates perform well in high school and many are placed in advanced placement classes. Students have shared they feel well prepared for the challenges of high school.
- Maximum class size: MMO = 12, PK2 = 15, PK3 = 18, PK4 = 20, K – 3rd = 20, 4th & 5th = 22, 6th – 8th = 24
- St. Paul uses Harcourt Math for Kindergarten,
Saxon Math for Grades 1-6 and Holt McDougal Larson’s Pre-Algebra program for 7th grade and Algebra 1 program for 8th grade.
- Spanish and music classes are taught in grades K – 8th.
- Our science curriculum for Kindergarten is a hands on science program called Discovery Works. Grades 2 – 5 use the hands-on, technology supported National Geographic program, while Grades 6 – 8 use a high school preparatory textbook science program called I Science (by Holt).
- Our Language Arts curriculum for grades 1 – 8th is the phonics based program, Shurley English. Kindergarten uses the Rowland Reading Program’s SuperKids series.
- Grades K – 8th attend computer lab classes weekly. Curriculum begins with age appropriate software. By 8th grade the students have learned word processing, spreadsheets, power point, and introductory programming.
- Grades K – 5th have physical education 2 times a week; Grades 6 – 8th have gym 3 times per week.
- Our 4 year old Preschool program uses a Houghton-Mifflin reading and math series.
- The Bible is taught in every grade level. Christian principles are incorporated into every subject and we pray at every meal.
- Chapel is held every Wednesday at 8:30 for Grades K – 8th, while Chapel for our Preschool classes happens every Wednesday at 10:30 am. Each class has the opportunity to lead chapel throughout the year and parents are always welcome!
- Hot lunches are delivered daily by local caterer, Tammy from Miami.
- Before and After School Care is offered for students in PreK 3 through 8th grade.
- Extra curricular activities include: chorus, band, athletics (middle school) such as soccer, basketball, girls’ volleyball, track & field.
- St. Paul has an active Parent Teacher League that offers many opportunities to become involved.
- Our students wear uniforms. We have a “Used Uniform Closet” which offers gently worn uniforms.
- Our library contains 6000+ volumes. Students have a library period once per week, however they can make use of the library at any time.
- Because we are a Christian school: teachers pray with their students and the students memorize Bible passages as a part of the weekly curriculum.
